Music Server Back Streaming Music after Updates

Well what just started off as a W2012 r2 security patch update ending up being a bit more. I ended up updating not only the server where I process the music, run the streaming application with it’s database and ShoutCast relays but also my IceCast relay which is Centos 7. When I saw the new kernel I also did a quick and dirty update on my Centos 7 web server I have virtualizized on XenServer since it was a quick update for a virtual system.

As I brought up the SAM broadcasting software I use to stream the data I noticed there as a new version and I took a leap of faith and updated that as well since it had improvements with how it interacted with my MySQL database.

In short form back up and streaming ahead at full speed on the “Snakeice House of Beats” Ship streaming service!

Rebooting Streaming Server After Updates Back in a Bit

Update the OS that has the streaming server so there will be a slight break in the music stream though the website will be up while I reboot my server I stream the music from.

As an update on this I also updated the streaming application I use SAM Broadcaster to the latest version and my IceCast relay server system which is of course another separate system. The streaming server is W2012 r2 and the IceCast server is running Linux Centos 7 as is my web server. I stream to ShoutCast from my windows 2012 R2 streaming server that has SAM Broadcaster on it.

Updated Site and Shoutcast Streams

Well today I updated the Shoutcast streams and saw that a new version of WordPress was available I updated that as well. Besides updating to the latest stream software for Shoutcast I also did away with the 160kbps stream and made that a 192kbps stream to as I noticed Shoutcast searches on Radionomy do not visibly have a search for 160kbps or other custom stream bit rates.

All music and servers I host, build and maintain from my home data center.

Taking Music Server Down Temporarily For Move

Moving the music server down in the rack for better cooling so music stream will be down temporarily. In the mean time visit a few other places on my site like the “Da Hoytt’s Games Site” :http://dhoytt.com/da_hoytt_games_blog/”. You can even stream the music later when I have the music stream back up and rolling!

Icecast Stream Back Online

Icecast Stream Back Online

I was updating the OS on my server that runs quite a few processes and one of the processes was the Icecast stream I tunnel the stream through that is not on the same server as my Shoutcast or audio library.  I didn’t realize this until I was headed to bed tonight and wanted to listen over Icecast to my music stream.

Well downloaded and configured the stream made sure firewall let proper ports through, matched up usernames and passwords and I’m back to streaming over Icecast!

Music Server Power Supply Died Back In a Few

Well I knew there was some power issue but it only affected this system the other day but turns out the power supply was on it last legs and it went out. I had to get really creative to replace the power supply since it is non-standard and make modifications to the inner case and exterior case to get the new power supply in.

I actually had to go with a 1U power supply I was going  to use for another project that got held up. Using the 1U power supply caused further case modifications to my 2U case but I’m done now and will be back up in a few.

I decided to post this while it was powering down after testing the other power supply and installing updates!
