Another Update Windows Music Server

I’m still running on my backup server for music stream relays and I need to update the Windows 2019 Datacenter OS with security updates.

I stepped away from doing the updates of the Fedora Linux relay servers for a few hours since its running so good on the backup system. The relay music server I took from Fedora 34 to Fedora 35 and now I’m taking it to the latest Fedora version, Fedora 38. The update system of Fedora Linux has turned out to be very reliable the last several years.

I have a backup Windows Music server but the system reboots quickly enough I just prefer to wait for the main music server to come back up. That takes less time after simple OS security updates than to sync the second server and start where I left off.

So about 15 minutes from this post time and date I will be rebooting the music server and the stream will be down for 5-10 minutes. The music relay server will be running still on the backup Linux Fedora 38 server with no music.

Updated Streaming Server Relays

Updated Streaming Server Relays

I updated the streaming server relays on my Centos 8 Linux system that hosts the IceCast and ShoutCast relays for my streaming server, so connections were down for about 15 -20 minutes. I’m now performing some security updates on the W2019 Data Center server that has my Sam Broadcaster Pro software that provides my music line up to pipe into my music relays and will reboot that soon as well.

Back Streaming and Road Map for Music Server

I have been back up and streaming for over 25 minutes and everything looks good. I have also been redoing my entire infrastructure which of course means the music streaming server will be updated and switched over.

Currently I have updated the Snakeice House of Beats system to W2019 Data Center 16 core including moving database and music over to the system. It will be running in a HPE C7000 blade chassis on a Bl460c gen 7 blade with 32GB RAM and dual X5650 Xeon CPU’s @ 2.67GHz 6 cores each CPU. I went with the MariaDB this time my first time using MariaDB the MySQL Open Source fork in Windows.

Everything is set for that system and ready to take over as soon as I finalize my networking back end on my chassis and computer room which now has everything locally at 10GBe and create the relays for ShoutCast and IceCast.

Eventually I will virtualize this music server when I finish getting my new storage backup in place and all data replicated an working between my current and new FreeNAS systems which I’m also updating along with 2 new XCP-ng Hyper-Visors I have configured on 2 x Bl460 Gen8 systems with 128GB RAM. dual Xeon E5-2860 v2 10 core CPU’s, running on 10GBE fabric. A lot happening and I will of course be doing more updates on http://dhoytt.com/mainblog/ .
