Replaced Switch in Enviornment After Failure

I was working on some new pages on my site and then my site went down. I had to troubleshoot the issue and found that it was my switch that comes into my entire environment from the WAN that then goes to my routers. I had to fire up Wireshark to see that the responses were being rejected until I bypassed the switch to each router. still the switch would act as if it was working and then finally after the last power recycle of switch not even the connectivity activity lights came back on.

While the switch was connected the routers started cycling to show a status of WAN disconnected so that was another clue. Oh well time I slapped another switch in its place and I’m fully back up once again. I’ll have to upgrade in that area once again which I was already looking at but wanted to look into other upgrades in the environment first.

Either way back up and serving web pages and streams once again!

I am replacing one of my main routers to the internet so
there will be some brief interruptions as I place my newly configured router in
place.

Power Outage Affects Blog Temporarily

Had a power outage today and I was away
from the office but everything came back online by itself except the
music didn’t begin streaming. The cause of the power outage I am
guessing is the street construction about a block away. I have not
been told that the construction is officially the cause of the power
outage so I will have to check sources later but its my guess.

I will have to design a batch script
for the various components of the music to come up in proper order
once the system is rebooted for my music server since this is the
only system that didn’t restart the software I use properly. When I
get a chance I will test it on my backup music server. The challenge
will be automating the music stream start and encoders.

My Linux boxes that host my web
servers & game servers appear to have come back and executed the
start-up scripts just fine, the server that streams the music is on
Windows.

Friday Night – Saturday Morning System Maintenance on Radio Server

Friday Night – Saturday Morning System Maintenance on Radio Server

I had some station issues last night due to a software vendor practicing an extremely questionable licensing scheme that prevented me from streaming my music to you.

A routine maintenance that should have took maybe 15 minutes at the most took all night due tho this ridiculousness! I was just switching over from a backup KVM switch to one that was returned after I sent a defective one in.
I was staring at total downtime for the entire weekend for the first time since I started broadcasting and streaming over the internet since 2004. Already this has been one of the longest times if not the longest time of dead air since I started doing this!
I had tried reinstalling and some other things to get back up and running so a few items I may have to tighten up again.
F!#% I’m going to bed but I do have to give a small bit of credit to the support person who allowed the activation of something I should never had to do in the first place since I had already paid the price!
May be time to go out and explore options but I’ll cool off first!
I”M OUT FOR NOW!!
