The Music Stream Continues

Just like that back up and streaming music over the internet from my upstairs home computer room to wherever you are ! The w2019 server with streaming software is up that then relays to my Linux Fedora 34 system with ShoutCast and Icecast.

This is the place the music happens and you can keep up with what’s playing real time: https://dhoytt.com/snake-ice-radio-blog/now-playing/

My music console where I input the sounds back up after reboot of W2019 Data Center OS.
Confirming relay software starts after reboot of system following system patches on Linux Fedora 34 system OS.

Doing OS Updates of Streaming Server

Doing some basic Windows 2012-r2 updates of the streaming server. Taking a bit longer than necessary as I took my eyes off of it and it had hung. Will be up and streaming momentarily. The streaming server is Windows 2012-r2 and the web server is currently running Centos 7 with relays of IceCast on the Linux server and ShoutCast relays on the Windows server.

XCP-ng Updated to Version 8.1

XCP-ng Updated to Version 8.1

Finally updated XCP-ng to 8.1 from 7.6 via local iso burned to a CD and it seems fine so far though it’s only just booted up.

I have a lot going on currently so hope to get back and test the functions more later. Right now just making sure my virual XCP-ng enviornment and VM’s are solid. I also downloaded the latest version of XCP-ng Center 20.03.01 and did a quick deploy of the new XOA.

For Snakeice’s House of Beats this took down my IceCast relays as the virtual system I have lives in my XCP-ng enviornment.

Will post more on XCP-ng later hopefully.

Evaluating New Streaming Music Server Tonight\This Morning

Tonight I am evaluating a new music server I built. I have a new OS and new hardware with updated streaming application. There has been a little up and down with the music stream as I get everything configured but it’s looking very good!

I will end up having the equal amount of streams on Icecast as I have had for years on Shoutcast with identical bit rates.

This new setup will allow me to also use my NAS setup to manage my music better. There will be less buffering for listeners even with the amount of encoders I have running more than doubling the system is handling this increase with very little memory or CPU impact.

Stay tuned the backend is changing dramatically and I like to have that solid before making the website changes that will better reveal my backend updates for you to use.

Fixed Windows Encoder Issue Can Listen With Windows Media Player

Fixed Windows Encoder Issue Can Listen With Windows Media Player

Well I fixed an issue I had not known existed because I had not been doing my due diligence in monitoring certain elements lately. The windows media encoder had crashed and then disappeared on my music server when I upgraded and I usually monitor with Shoutcast enabled media players so I didn’t notice the issue with the Windows media encoder since I seldom listen and monitor with the Windows Media player.

Anyway just click on the link on the page @ http://www.dhoytt.com/snake-ice-radio-blog/ that says  Windows Media Player Auto Adjust to Internet Speed it will determine your connection speed and adjust appropriately. Sorry for this inconvenience and oversight.
You can alternately click on the media player iconwmp.jpg.
When the message asking to launch Windows Media player comes up:
windows-media-player-launch-request.JPG
Choose “Launch Application” and Windows Media player will start streaming whatever is playing on “Snakeice’s House of Beats“:
windows-media-player-launched.JPG
You’ll notice in the bottom left corner it will first show buffering and then start playing the music then scroll the song being played information & station id.
Sit back and enjoy the music. Also if you have Windows Media Player already up you can right click on the top portion of the Windows Media Player -> <Click on> “File” -> Then <Click on> “Open URL”:
windows-media-player-launched-open-url.JPGThe next step is to enter in the in the path to the music “mms://dhoytt.com:3690” in the dialogue box:

There you have it another way to listen with Windows Media Player. I’ll at some point spruce this up and add it to the F.A.Q section along with a video and a step by step on how to use other popular media players to listen to the “Snakeice House of Beats” show.
