 What a Friday! Okay first my Friday
\nstarted with me going to bed late after working on my freshly
\ninstalled system that had me manipulating the file system structure
\nas mentioned in a previous post (
\nhttp:\/\/www.dhoytt.com\/mainblog\/archives\/2010\/12\/resize-switch-dynamicallyextended-logical-volume-successfully.html<\/a>
\n). I worked on that anticipating a fairly easy day since I had gotten
\na lot prepped the evening before for the IT project I was working on
\ndowntown a relatively short drive from my house.<\/p>\n

\tThe first event happened in the
\nmorning I have been working on redoing my loan on this house so in
\nthe morning around 6am I had to make that call and try to get it out
\nof the way. This of course took forever and I had to rush to get
\nready and get to work.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tThe short drive to downtown Sacramento
\nfrom the Northgate\/South Natomas area in Sacramento turned rather
\nlong as I got off on Q street they had that blocked off looking for a
\ngunman on a building with a rifle I was told as I took the detour
\nfrom a person getting out of a local news van. I know Sacramento very
\nwell from my partying, hitting the old cruises on J street, Old Sac,
\nBroadway, Franklin, Bird Cage on Sunrise boulevard etc. and the fact
\nthat I had jobs that took me all over the place in town and out of
\ntown.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tSo I went around the blockade and
\nparked in another parking garage and walked to the building I was
\nperforming the project at, and signed in with security. I noticed a
\nlot of people in the atrium and figured they were having another
\nholiday party or get together. I went up to the floor I was working
\non and noticed not many people around and started my laptop and
\nremote logged into my servers I was using to scan the customers
\nnetwork\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tI was doing my checks of processes
\nand getting into setting up the final process of scanning their
\nnetwork when someone comes in and starts saying anyone left in this
\nside of the building has to leave this area because of the gunman
\nthey were looking for was adjacent to the building I was working in!\n<\/p>\n

\tCool I started packing my stuff and
\nputting my coat and hat back on so I could leave go to the office and
\ncome back when this was done and then was told I couldn’t leave the
\nbuilding either since they didn’t want extra people out walking
\naround while they searched for this person. Now I’m wondering why
\ndidn’t they stop me a few minutes ago from even coming in the
\nbuilding! Now I’m stuck!<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tWell I went down to the cafeteria and
\nate some breakfast drank coffee and tried to find out if there was
\nanyway to log in to the servers from anywhere in the building. After
\na while I gave that up and started chatting with a former manager
\nfrom another place I worked previously and customers from another
\nfloor I had worked with earlier this week and at another of their
\nsites in Sonoma, California a week ago.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tHours later when we can get back to
\nwork of course a few other issues raise their heads that extends the
\nscan time even more and will take that into the evening. Well I had
\nto leave so I make arrangements to pick the equipment up later next
\nweek since I will be out of town in the beginning of the week. This
\nalso has the potential to impact the projects I have lined up later
\nthis month.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tI then get my mail when going home and
\nthe court had screwed up the trial dates I had setup earlier in the
\nweek and they sent the original screwed up date out. I’m still hoping
\nthey correct that since on my initial paperwork I can prove that I
\nhad said I was out of town on that date. Now I have to go online to
\ninsure they have made the change as they said they would. They mailed
\nthis notice out the day I went to correct the issue but I showed up
\nthe last part of the day Tuesday and the notice was mailed that day
\nand the clerk correcting her friends mistake told me she would mail
\nthe corrected date the next day which was Wednesday so I can only
\nhope that takes place!<\/p>\n

\n

\tThe next issue I didn’t notice because
\nI was contemplating these other events which was that the power had
\ngone out in the area and rebooted my servers! I noticed when I looked
\nat my microwave and it had no time! I had been home for a while when
\nI noticed this and came upstairs right away! I knew all of my servers
\nwould come up and start the web, blogs, gallery, E-commerce but not
\nthe music stream. I came upstairs and got the music streaming and
\ncorrected some database issues.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tOh yeah and I had to finalize my
\ntraveling arrangements for the next two weeks that may get changed
\nbecause of some of the events I mentioned in this post!<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tThen I also spoke to my mother an she
\ninformed me that some family friends had passed so there will be
\nconsecutive memorials the next couple of weeks, danged!<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\t In the days mail I had some other
\npaperwork come that I was asking for when starting the day @ 6am. I
\nstill need to build a system really quick for a friend (I only do
\nthis for one or two people) so the day isn’t even close to being
\nover!<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tMay have even made some contacts
\nduring the time they had us in the building today and they caught the
\nguy as well, I mean the guy was not close to where they were looking
\nor as menacing considering the effort but oh well! Check the
\nSacramento news sites for this day to see the story.<\/p>\n

\n<\/p>\n

\tWell there you have it the good and
\nbad of an eventful but productive day!<\/p>\n
